Scripts No Longer Working?

By Brandon Metcalf @Brandon_Metcalf

I have no idea what caused this, but the scripts in this package are no longer working for me. I had used them earlier today, but now it looks like it will successfully COPY all the track data (and gives me the successful pop-up message), but when I try to paste anything, it looks like it's working but it doesn't load any data.

Steps I've taken to try to resolve:

    • restarted pro tools
    • made sure there was no "melodyne" folder inside of the Soundflow track presets folder (there WAS, and I moved it)
    • made sure i was on the latest available update of the package via the soundflow store (2.0.2)
    • made sure i was on the latest available version of soundflow (i'm on 4.1.4 and it said no new updates available)
    • deleted the "soundflow" folder from the track presets folder
    • uninstalled the Track Data Utilities package, and then reinstalled it
    • ran the 1) create soundflow presets script
    • assigned new keyboard triggers to the scripts
    • tried to run scripts both via keyboard trigger, as well as by just clicking to "run command" inside of soundflow.

Anything else I'm missing? Anyone else run in to this? I'm totally stumped!

      1. Looks like you've tried everything that I would have recommended. The only other thing I would suggest if you haven't done it already is a restart of your computer.

        A couple of things:

        • what type of tracks (audio, folder, Aux, etc) are you copying from and pasting to?
        • does the SF icon in the menu bar stay blue or flash on and off when you trigger the paste script?
        • after copying, do the Paste Sends and Paste Inserts scripts work as expected?
        • You said when pasting that "it looks like it's working". Do you see SF opening the track popup menu on the track that your pasting to?

I created two new mono audio tracks for testing. I get a successful pop-up after copying, but was unable to get anything to paste.

Here's a screen recording in case it helps - first I copy track data, then try to paste inserts using a keyboard trigger. Then, I copy again and try to trigger the "paste sends" script by manually clicking "run command" in Soundflow. The Soundflow icon does stay blue while attempting to paste (but you can't see the menu bar in the screen recording for some reason)

            1. Thanks for the screen capture.
Could you try manually recalling the SF Temp Preset on the second track after doing a copy?
We should see if the copy is successful first. Let me know what happens

              1. Also, did you try using the Paste Inserts and Paste Sends scripts to see if they behave as expected?

I did try both of these, no luck with either.

Good suggestion - I just tried to manually recall the SF Temp Preset after copying and it didn't populate any data.. so the error must somehow be in the "copy" stage?

                      1. Hmm. I'm at a loss. What OS / PT version are you on?

                        1. Also, in the workspace, see if there are any of the Track Data Utilities presets inside of the AVID folder (or any other folder for that matter) if there are, try deleting them. See below…

BTW - It's no longer necessary to delete the Melodyne folder (if there is one). The new package scripts works around it.

Also, the latest version of SF is 4.1.6. Not sure why you're not getting the update through the SF menu but you can download it from the website:
                      https://soundflow.org/cp/install

that's strange that Soundflow was saying no updates were available, but i did just update via the download link in case that was an issue. no luck!

So here is a strange update: I just tried to run the "clear sends" and "clear inserts" scripts - one of them got hung up and gave me an error (I don't remember which it was). Then I ran the other right after. After that.. just for no real reason at all, I tried the original scripts again and voila, they seem to be working again! I'll report back if that changes but as of now, it looks like if anyone is experiencing this in the future, the workaround might be to run those other scripts?

Update: this script has stopped working again! The "clear sends" and "clear inserts" are still working, but the main copy/paste data script isn't. Bizarre!

                                1. Hey Brandon,
Sorry for the long waited reply. I could not replicate the problem you were having with the Copy Track Data script - until today. I began having issues as well.

I've think I've squashed the bug so try downloading V2.0.3 and let me know if it's working for you.

fixed! working like a dream and saving me zillions of mouse clicks!!

                                    1. Whew! Good.
I'd tell you what the problem was but it'd take forever.
                                      Glad it's working again.

I noticed that Andrew's Melodyne Helpers package has also started working flawlessly, whereas before I would run in to the same snag near the end of the "prep" script. Not sure if that's related in any way or not, but I sure am glad to have both running without a hitch! Thanks so much for your efforts to dig in to this and update.. Not to mention your work to develop + share these scripts with us all in the first place!

                                          1. Here's a basic explanation of was going on with Andrew's and my scripts: (TL;DR - it's Avid's fault with the way they're saving Melodyne transfer folders)
